To compare Robert E. Lee, a brave and able general who unlike Willam T. Sherman ("War is cruelty. There is no use trying to reform it. The crueler it is, the sooner it will be over.") was no war criminal, to the mass murderer Hitler is utter rot.

(Maybe we should speak more about the Nobel Price winner Obama who was the only President in modern times under whose presidency the US was engaged in war - every single day of his presidency. And who was the man who added to the existing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan new ones in Libya, Syria, Yemen and some almost forgotten other places, not to speak of his killing lists*. To make it clear: I would never ever compare that unfit President to mass murderers like Hitler or Stalin.)

NO EXONERATION
If Trump Weren’t President, He Would Already Be Charged
The Mueller Report contains a case against the president as strong as many we saw working as federal prosecutors.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report is 448 pages long, full of shocking conduct and detail that has prompted non-stop discussion since it was released last week. But one thing seems indisputable from our perspective as former federal prosecutors looking at the evidence laid out by the report: If Donald Trump were not now president he would have been indicted on multiple counts of obstruction of justice. And that case would be as strong, if not stronger, than many we saw working in New York and Chicago, respectively.

Justice Department policy prohibits the prosecution of a president while in office, but nothing forbids one from being charged after leaving the White House. The Mueller Report even noted one reason to investigate the president was to preserve evidence for possible future use even though Trump can’t be charged now. And Mueller collected a stunning array of evidence that clearly shows that from 2017 until 2019, Trump engaged in a persistent pattern to try to end, or at least limit the scope of, investigations surrounding him and his family. ...

Right now the only thing standing between Trump and a federal courtroom is the office of the presidency.

Trump Calls Ex-FBI Officials ‘Scum,’ Takes Credit For ‘Sick’ Immigrant Plan At Rally
The president ranted for nearly 90 minutes in Wisconsin on the same night as the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.

At his rally, Trump highlighted his usual anti-immigration policies and again took credit for a controversial plan to send detained undocumented immigrants to so-called sanctuary cities where local officials have opted not to cooperate with federal immigration officials ― a plan that surfaced earlier this month.

Trump called it his “sick idea” while bragging about it.

Graham: 'I don't care' what happened between Trump and McGahn
Sen. Lindsey Graham on Sunday said he doesn't care if President Donald Trump told then-White House counsel Don McGahn to fire special counsel Robert Mueller — the Mueller investigation is over.

"It's all theater — it doesn't matter," the South Carolina Republican told "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan. "I don't care what he said to Don McGahn — it's what he did. The president never obstructed."

That's what total abdication of responsibility from his oath of office looks like. Full complicity in the crime.

It’s not just obstructing justice: Here are 5 additional impeachment charges Trump could potentially face

So if Democrats end up pursuing impeachment in earnest, they should consider including the following charges:

1. Directing prosecutions of Hillary Clinton
2. Offering to preemptively pardon to CBP chief
3. Directing criminal hush money payments
4. Emoluments
5. Separating families

Sally Yates: If Trump weren't president, he would be indicted on obstruction
Former acting Attorney General Sally Yates said on "Meet the Press" Sunday that if Trump were not president, he would likely be indicted for obstructing justice in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

"I have been a prosecutor for nearly 30 years. And I can tell you personally I have prosecuted obstruction cases on far, far less evidence than this. And yes, I believe if he were not the president of the United States, he would likely be indicted on obstruction. ...
I think special counsel Mueller did a very fair job in going through all 10 instances and laying out both the facts that established he had committed the crime of obstruction, but also pointing out the defenses, both legal and factual. But there are several incidents that he described to which special counsel Mueller really couldn't point to any significant factual or legal defenses."

Why it matters: Mueller notably did not make a recommendation on whether President Trump should be charged with obstruction of justice, citing an Office of Legal Counsel opinion that states that a sitting president cannot be indicted. Mueller does note, however, that the opinion also recognizes that the president does not have immunity after he leaves office.

White Nationalists Storm Washington Bookstore Reading: ‘This Land Is Our Land’
The group protested the author Jonathan Metzl’s book reading on the same day a white supremacist gunned down worshippers at a synagogue.

The group stormed the Politics and Prose bookstore on Saturday afternoon, interrupting a scheduled talk by Jonathan Metzl, a professor of sociology and psychiatry at Vanderbilt University who released his book “Dying of Whiteness: How the Politics of Racial Resentment Is Killing America’s Heartland” this spring.

Videos filmed by those in attendance showed the group standing in a line before the audience chanting, “This land is our land.” At least one man was yelling white nationalist propaganda into a megaphone while people in the bookstore booed him.
The man identified the group as “identitarians,” a far-right white nationalist group which is linked to Identity Evropa, which the Southern Poverty Law Center lists as an extremist group....

The bookstore protest happened on the same day a 19-year-old white supremacist opened fire on a synagogue in Poway, California, before a Passover celebration, killing one woman and injuring three others, including one young girl.
Before the attack, the shooter posted an eight-page manifesto online boasting about his “European ancestry” and expressing his hatred of Jewish people.

Metzl told NBC Washington that before the protest broke out he was speaking to a man who had helped Metzl’s father and grandfather flee Nazi Austria.
“Not five minutes before, I had acknowledged him and said this is how great America can be when it is bold and generous,” Metzl recalled to NBC.

He told the Post that the incident was “very symbolic for me.”
“In case anybody’s wondering what’s happening right now, they’re illustrating my point,” he said.

How Trump’s ego increases America’s risk from white supremacists, Russian hackers
Violent white nationalism had a horrible, horrible moment in America on Saturday.

It was the exact same white-supremacist baloney that caused another man with an AR-15 to slaughter 11 Jews in a Pittsburgh synagogue exactly six months earlier to the day. And there were more storm clouds on the horizon. In a popular Washington bookstore, at virtually the same time as the latest synagogue shooting occurred, a crowd of so-called “white identitarians” with a bullhorn showed up to disrupt the author of a book on racial resentment called Dying of Whiteness, chanting “this land is our land.” ...

Here’s the real reason Trump supporters are not fazed by his brazen lying and corruption
... Trump’s attraction to this international rogues’ gallery is personal and emotional. He wants the exclusive club of dictators, macho men, tough guys, to love him and to accept him as one of them. Donald Trump’s foreign policy is his attempt to become the leader of the bad boys of the world.

Charles Blow of the New York Times produced a thoughtful explanation of Trump’s popular appeal a couple of weeks ago in an opinion column entitled “Trumpism Extols Its Folk Hero”. Blow believes that Trump has become a “folk hero”, that rare person who “fights the establishment, often in devious, destructive and even deadly ways,” while “those outside that establishment cheer as the folk hero brings the beast to its knees.” Because the folk hero engages in the risky David vs. Goliath struggle against the awesomely powerful “establishment”, his personal sins are forgiven: “his lying, corruption, sexism and grift not only do no damage, they add to his legend.”
Thus the persistent belief among Trump’s critics that exposing his manifest dishonesty will finally awaken his base to reality is mistaken. His ability to get away with every possible form of cheating is part of his appeal, because he is cheating the establishment, the elite, the “deep state”, the “them” that is not “us”.

For his fans, the Mueller report is only the latest example of this extraordinary success. Despite years of investigation, Trump skates. It’s not important whether he was exonerated or not. What matters is that he can claim he was exonerated and go on being President, no matter what the report says, no matter what he actually did. ...

Villainy unalloyed by any goodness has also propelled many people, almost all men, into the ranks of folk heroes, like Jesse James, Butch Cassidy, and Bonnie and Clyde. These criminals captured the popular imagination, not despite being bad, but because of it. They were great in their villainy, outlaws in both the legal and social sense, stealing other people’s money for their own benefit, but that does not detract from their appeal.
Enough people love bad boys that they can achieve legendary status, or even more rarified, a TV series. The popularity of series with villains as heroes demonstrates the broad appeal of bad people. “Breaking Bad” attracted giant audiences and honored by Guinness World Records as the most critically acclaimed show of all time. ...

...But at the heart of connection between bad boy folk hero Trump and his adulating base is a fundamental misunderstanding. Trump is not fighting the establishment. Trump is not using his powers to help his angry supporters. Trump is screwing them.

He attacks their health by eliminating rules which reduce corporate air and water pollution. He hasn’t stopped his repeated attempts to cut their health insurance by Medicare, Medicaid, and Obamacare. He is dismantling the bank and lending regulations overseen by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Nothing good will come to average Americans from the foreign members of Trump’s club. These are all assaults on the standard of living, present and future, of non-elite America.

The 2017 tax cuts are the best example of how Trump betrays his base. Poor and middle-income Americans got small tax cuts, but also inherit gigantic future deficits to pay for the enormous cuts in corporate and income taxes for the very wealthy.
Trump is good at what he does, but that is bad for everybody else, especially for those who cheer him on.

Dying of Whiteness (Hardcover)
How the Politics of Racial Resentment Is Killing America's Heartland
A physician reveals how right-wing backlash policies have mortal consequences -- even for the white voters they promise to help
Named one of the most anticipated books of 2019 by Esquire and the Boston Globe

In the era of Donald Trump, many lower- and middle-class white Americans are drawn to politicians who pledge to make their lives great again. But as Dying of Whiteness shows, the policies that result actually place white Americans at ever-greater risk of sickness and death.

Physician Jonathan M. Metzl's quest to understand the health implications of "backlash governance" leads him across America's heartland. Interviewing a range of everyday Americans, he examines how racial resentment has fueled progun laws in Missouri, resistance to the Affordable Care Act in Tennessee, and cuts to schools and social services in Kansas. And he shows these policies' costs: increasing deaths by gun suicide, falling life expectancies, and rising dropout rates. White Americans, Metzl argues, must reject the racial hierarchies that promise to aid them but in fact lead our nation to demise.

About the Author
Jonathan M. Metzl is the Frederick B. Rentschler II professor of sociology and psychiatry at Vanderbilt University and director of its Center for Medicine, Health, and Society. He is the author of several books and a prominent expert on gun violence and mental illness. He hails from Kansas City, Missouri, and lives in Nashville, Tennessee.

"Here is the diagnosis, America, and it's not reassuring: failing health, falling graduation rates, guns everywhere. Our fantasies are driving us to an early grave, and Jonathan M. Metzl is lucid and careful and mercifully clinical in telling us exactly how this public health disaster came to be. Read it today: there's still time before the autopsy."—Thomas Frank, author of What's the Matter With Kansas? and Listen, Liberal

"Dying of Whiteness unveils how the very policies marketed to white people as 'making America great again' end up harming the well-being of whites as a demographic group. This is must reading for anyone interested in understanding the current racial landscape of the United States."—Jelani Cobb, Ira A. Lipman Professor of Journalism, Columbia Journalism School

The Essence of Evil: Sex with Children Has Become Big Business in America
“Children are being targeted and sold for sex in America every day.”—John Ryan, National Center for Missing & Exploited Children

Children, young girls—some as young as 9 years old—are being bought and sold for sex in America. The average age for a young woman being sold for sex is now 13 years old.

This is America’s dirty little secret.

Sex trafficking—especially when it comes to the buying and selling of young girls—has become big business in America, the fastest growing business in organized crime and the second most-lucrative commodity traded illegally after drugs and guns.

Zitat: "The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible. Forget all your cheap theatrical Bruce Springsteen crap. So, the question is not who might be the best candidate to govern the USA, the question is who has the best intersectionality, who is more victim than other candidates?
If we consider the criterias race, gender, nationality, disability and sexual orientation, I suggest a blind pansexual transgender Somali for President.

Why Conservatives Keep Getting Anti-Semitism Wrong
By detaching anti-Semitism from its nationalist ideology, the right dodges responsibility over and over again for its fellow travelers.

What motivates someone to burst into a Southern California synagogue and shoot unarmed worshipers, there to recite the memorial prayer for the dead?

Depends who you ask: progressives say nationalist, racist ideology, while conservatives say hate. The difference may seem slight, but in fact, it’s why right and left talk past one another—and seem to be moving farther apart.

Progressives, and most scholars, regard the kind of anti-Semitism that motivated the Poway shooting as part of the xenophobic, ultra-nationalistic constellations of hatreds and “otherings” that also, in our day, include Islamophobia, racism, and anti-immigrant animus. Jews are the “enemy within,” facilitating the evils of immigration and multiculturalism to destroy the motherland.
This is borne out by what Poway, Pittsburgh, Christchurch, and other white terrorists all said in their manifestos and other online comments. Like thousands of others of ultra-nationalists in Europe and America, they see their white, European cultures being overrun by foreigners. And they believe that Jews are making it happen.
In the words of the Charlottesville white supremacists, “you will not replace us,” a taunt aimed at non-whites, is easily changed to “Jews will not replace us.” That is a political statement—filled with ignorance and hate, of course, but also ideology.

On the right, however, anti-Semitism is regarded as hate, not ideology.

WashPost: Trump has made over 10,000 false claims
President Trump made 10,111 false or misleading statements over the first 828 days of his presidency, according to a Washington Post analysis.

By the numbers: Over the last seven months, Trump has averaged 23 false claims per day, buoyed by his statements during campaign-style rallies and tweets. The Post found that about 20% of Trump's false claims are on immigration, including the fact that he's falsely claimed 160 times that a wall is being built along the U.S.-Mexico border.

Trump made 171 false claims from April 25 to April 27, which the Post says is more than "any single month in the first five months of his presidency."
Trump's 45-minute phone interview with Fox News' Sean Hannity last week included 45 false claims — one per minute.
22% of Trump's false claims come during the president's campaign-style rallies, and his Saturday rally in Green Bay, Wis. to counter-program the White House Correspondents' Dinner featured 61 false claims.
