Nigel Farage’s funding secrets revealed
Channel 4 News investigation reveals how millionaire Arron Banks spent approximately £450,000 on Nigel Farage to fund lavish lifestyle the year following the EU referendum in summer 2016.

Millionaire insurance tycoon Arron Banks spent close to half a million pounds funding Nigel Farage, who is now the Brexit Party leader.

Mr Banks is currently under investigation by the National Crime Agency over the source of his funding for the Brexit campaign.

However, Nigel Farage claims Mr Banks has never funded The Brexit Party, which was founded in February this year.

An investigation by Channel 4 News reveals:

Mr Banks, through one of his companies, rented exclusive £4.4m Chelsea home for Mr Farage
Gifts included furniture, council tax, water and electricity bills
Banks provided a £30k car and £20k for a driver
Banks also leased private office for £1,500 a month and paid Mr Farage’s personal assistant
Hundreds of thousands of pounds were spent promoting “Brand Farage” in America
A company owned by Mr Banks, called Rock Services Ltd, leased a £4.4m three-bedroom Chelsea home with a garage for Mr Farage at an estimated rent of £13,000 a month in summer 2016.

Mr Banks also bought furniture and fittings for the house, including crockery, chairs and bathroom accessories and even even a shower curtain.
Mr Farage was also provided with a Land Rover Discovery, valued at £32,300, for his use.
Mr Banks paid £20,000 for a close protection driver and sought to raise a further £130,000 from unnamed supporters to cover Mr Farage’s security detail.
The revelations are contained in invoices, emails and other documents seen by Channel 4 News which lay bare Mr Farage’s financial reliance on Arron Banks to fund his lavish lifestyle after he announced he was standing down as UKIP leader following the referendum.
They further reveal that Mr Banks funded a private office space for Mr Farage at 40 Great Smith Street in Westminster, and paid the salary of a personal assistant.
Mr Farage continued to serve as a member of the European Parliament on a salary of €100,000 a year plus expenses.

Trips to America
The documents reveal that Mr Banks, through his companies, organised and funded multiple visits to the United States in the year following the Brexit vote.
In July 2016, Mr Banks flew Mr Farage business class to Cleveland, Ohio to attend the Republican National Convention.
Mr Banks, through Southern Rock, paid an American lobbying firm Goddard Gunster £64,064 for a “Nigel Farage Brexit Policy Luncheon”.
Mr Banks paid an American strategist, Gerry Gunster, through his company Goddard Gunster, to organise the event.
This included paying Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson £11,305.41 to interview Mr Farage at the event.

At the RNC, Mr Farage met Republican Senator Bob Corker and John Bolton, currently serving as Donald Trump’s National Security Advisor. The meetings were coordinated by the American strategy firm.
The following month Mr Farage, Mr Banks and his associate Andy Wigmore flew to Jackson, Mississippi where they were hosted by the Governor Phil Bryant and first introduced to Donald Trump.
Mr Farage also addressed a Trump rally, the first British politician to do so.

In Autumn 2016, Rock Services arranged for Mr Farage and Mr Wigmore to travel to America on multiple occasions, including visits to St Louis, Missouri. The pair also flew to Las Vegas for the presidential debates, and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Mr Banks, Mr Wigmore and Mr Farage also travelled to New York for election night in November 2016 and stayed at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Mr Farage was the first British politician to meet the president elect where he was photographed in front of a gold lift at Trump Tower.
At Donald Trump’s inauguration, emails suggest Mr Banks paid more than £15,000 to fly Nigel Farage to and from Washington, approximately £1000 on a room at the plush Mayflower Hotel.
Invoices show Goddard Gunster billed £108,684 for a lavish party in Farage’s honour at the Hay-Adams Hotel. ....

...und so weiter und so fort.

Now we need to know who the hell is funding those losers of Change UK?

Boris Johnson crushes leadership rivals in poll of Tory members
Boris Johnson is the clear favourite to be the next prime minister, according to a poll of members of the Conservative Party.

The former foreign secretary was the first choice to replace Theresa May for 39 per cent of those polled. The second-most popular, Dominic Raab, attracted 13 per cent, with support for all other contenders in single figures.

In a head-to-head vote, Mr Johnson would beat Mr Raab by 59 points to 41, and every other contender by a bigger margin, according to the YouGov poll for The Times in which 858 Tory party members were interviewed between May 10 and 16.

Mr Johnson would be a divisive choice to succeed Mrs May at No 10.
https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/9edf2...60-f1d4d84b7ed1

The explanation is very simple: Tory voters and members believe Johnson to be the most likely person to stopp Farage's triumphal march.

Brexit: The EU looks on in 'suspended disbelief'
This month the current UK parliamentary session has become the longest since the English Civil War (1642-51). It is a fitting distinction: the political civil war convulsing Britain is now in full swing, and is likely to get worse.

The clarity over Theresa May’s departure and the collapse of the cross party talks do not provide any clearing of the air: these developments simply confirm Brexit’s deepening distempers.
Those who have clung to the centre are now heading to the extremes, pulled by forces the leadership of both parties can no longer control.
The Tories are haemorrhaging voters to Nigel Farage because they haven’t delivered Brexit; Labour is losing out to the Liberal Democrats, Greens and Change UK because of Jeremy Corbyn’s ambiguity on a second referendum.
Both the leave and remain camps are convinced the momentum is on their side.

Purist thinking, the pre-requisite to any sleepwalk into catastrophe, is now dangerously fashionable.
"Britain is a desperately divided country right now," Simon Coveney, the Tánaiste, told reporters in Brussels this week.
"The issues are still as complex as they always have been, and to find a way forward everybody has to be willing to compromise. The problem is that some on the UK side don’t seem to be willing to do that. They want a purist view, and they won’t accept any compromise to that view."

EU officials talk of capitals being in "suspended disbelief" at what is happening.

At least, according to a pessimistic reading, there is grim clarity to what happens next.
The Tories will be humiliated in the European Parliament elections.
Theresa May will make one final abortive attempt to get the Withdrawal Agreement through House of Commons by way of the Withdrawal Agreement Implementation Bill (WAB).
A leadership contest will follow in which the two front runners will place themselves before the party grassroots in a run-off.

Boris Johnson announced on Thursday that he would contest the Tory party leadership election
Given that the Tory grassroots have swung truculently behind no deal, a rhetorical arms race will catapult a Boris Johnson or a Dominic Raab into Number 10 on the promise of a showdown with Brussels.

The EU will reject any attempt to re-open the Withdrawal Agreement, the new prime minister will threaten no deal, but parliament will thwart that it.
"It’s impossible to know how this will pan out," says one London source close to the Brexit process. "It will be extremely messy and very drawn out, by the time you’ve cleared the MP process [in the leadership race] and then the party members’ process. It will be a time of chaos for the country."

Time is in short supply, and a bruising autumn will come around very quickly.
"We assume the leadership contest will start early and that the Tories will want it completed by the summer recess," observes a senior EU official.
"We will see a very nervous start of the fall with the party conference season in the UK, and then there are just two weeks left before the European Council in mid-October."
That is the last chance the UK will be able to seek a further extension to Article 50, which expires on October 31.

The dynamic might change, but the outcomes look stubbornly familiar.
"The Europeans will be confronted by a more Brexiteer prime minister, or at least one with stronger credentials than May in terms of delivering Brexit," says the official.
"The Tory party will be in an existential crisis after the European elections, so the build up in October will be pretty rough. The new prime minister may not therefore come with a request for an extension, but to tell us this is the last attempt to make a deal, or tinker with the deal, and if not there is no deal.

"All for the sake of the survival of the Tory Party." ...

'How to profit from the world's water crisis': a dig into Annunziata Rees-Mogg's articles
Brexit Party candidate Annunziata Rees-Mogg's articles have offered cheery instructions on how to profit from global water shortages and the privatisation of the NHS.

Annunziata Rees-Mogg, sister of arch-Eurosceptic Tory backbencher Jacob Rees-Mogg, is a freelance journalist who has written for several conservative publications and is now standing as a candidate for Nigel Farage's Brexit Party.

As deputy editor of MoneyWeek, she wrote numerous pieces including one in 2007 headlined: "How to profit from the world's water crisis".
The lengthy piece notes that "four children die each minute from illness caused by a lack of drinking water" before launching into a discussion of how to "profit from the world's shortage of water".

Alongside investment in infrastructural solutions such as desalination and improved water supply, Rees-Mogg recommends companies that are buying up water rights in US states.
"The region is already suffering from water shortages, which are getting worse," enthuses the reporter. "By holding a substantial number of water rights, [the company] 'is turning water into money'."

In a 2005 article on the same subject Rees-Mogg could barely bring herself to attribute this money-spinner of a problem to man-made climate change.
"So what's going on?" she asks. "It's hard to say ... according to the mainstream view of global warming, 'when the Earth heats up under the influence of so-called greenhouse gases, the effect leads to droughts, heat-waves, storms and floods', so assuming the mainstream view has some validity, that's part of it."

In a 2005 article entitled "A way to play the ageing population" she wrote of the massive pre-tax profits of Care UK, a company that "wants to be at the forefront of the part-privatisation of the health service".
An ageing population is bad news for the government, but great news for companies like this, she writes, noting that state-funded provision accounts for 75% of their beds.
"These are long-term contracts, providing a good income," she says, paraphrasing another commentator. "The Care [UK] story looks good."

As spotted by The New European's Steve Anglesey, Rees-Mogg showed her unerring business sense in 2005 with an article titled "Google: don't join the mania".
"It's all exciting stuff and there is no doubt that Google is an exceptional company, but does that really justify its current share price of $410?" asked Rees-Mogg. "Unrealistic expectations usually bring disappointing returns and the odds are they will this time too."
Google shares at time of publication are $1,134.43.

A strike of German workers in 2006 would hurt the economy, claimed another headline.

Public sector workers were responding to a proposed increase in their hours from 38.5 to 40 with no extra pay, a situation framed by Rees-Mogg as workers pushing "for shorter hours". ...

Nigel Farage facing investigation by EU authorities over lavish gifts from millionaire tycoon
Exclusive: Brexit Party leader failed to declare £450,000 allegedly spent on him by Arron Banks, MEP claims

Nigel Farage is facing an investigation by European parliament authorities over claims that he failed to declare nearly half a million pounds in gifts from an insurance tycoon under investigation by the National Crime Agency.

It was claimed this week that the Brexit Party leader has been given as much as £450,000 in kind by Arron Banks, including a chauffeur-driven car, rent and bills on a £4.4m Chelsea home, and lavish trips to the United States to meet with right-wing politicians.

But none of the gifts, detailed in invoices seen by Channel 4 News, were declared on Mr Farage’s register of interests with the European parliament, which is designed to prevent MEPs from keeping their conflicts of interests secret.

Green MEP refers Farage to Anti-Fraud Office
Molly has referred Nigel Farage to the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) asking them to investigate possible fraudulent activity. The referral comes following accusations that monetary gifts totalling almost £450,000 from billionaire Arron Banks were made to Mr Farage in the year after the EU referendum. According to the Channel 4 News investigation the donation from Banks, the co-founder of Leave.EU, was used for items including rent payments on a multi-million pound house in Chelsea, a £30,000 car, £20,000 a month for a driver and bodyguards and a private office leased at £1,500 a month. Arron Banks has not denied the allegations.

Molly claims that Farage could be in breach of Code of Conduct rules which stipulate MEPs must declare support for political activity as well as declare gifts above €150. Arron Banks himself is currently under investigation by the National Crime Agency over millions of pounds of campaign donations during the 2016 referendum campaign. His Leave.EU campaign group was fined £70,000 for breaking electoral spending law.

Molly said:
“As we approach the European elections this week, where so many people are apparently putting their faith in Nigel Farage, it is essential that the European Anti-Fraud Office investigate immediately whether he is in breach of the rules and if this financial support has indirectly financed his Brexit Party.
“Many, including myself, consider Nigel Farage to be a professional political fraudster. We need to know as a matter of urgency whether his fraudulent activities extend to breaking EU rules.”

The referral to OLAF is the latest in a series of actions Molly Scott Cato has taken over the last three years to expose illegal and dishonest behaviour by the Leave campaign. She wrote to the National Crime Agency a year ago calling for investigations into Arron Banks and Leave.EU and produced two popular websites exposing the truth about the individuals and organisations behind the Brexit campaign.

One of those featured was a former close aide of Nigel Farage, George Cottrell, a convicted fraudster who was jailed in the US for offering to launder money for drug lords. It has been reported that Cottrell is now acting as a fundraiser for the Brexit Party.

Tom Scott who researched and wrote much of the content for both the Bad Boys of Brexit and the Brexit syndicate websites said:
“No single MEP has done more to uncover the corruption, dishonesty and downright illegal activity of the Leave campaigns than Molly Scott Cato. The more research I did, the more it became apparent that the Brexit referendum was mired in corruption, criminality and lies. Molly has helped shine a very strong light into this murky world. I hope her latest attempt to expose Farage as a fraudster will pay off and people will question whether he and his party are worthy of their vote on Thursday.”

Brexit Party fundraiser is ‘Posh George’, once jailed in US after money-laundering sting
A former Ukip aide has returned from prison with a celebrity girlfriend and a new job

A disgraced former aide to Nigel Farage who was jailed in America for offering to launder money for drug lords is a fundraiser for the Brexit Party, it can be revealed.
George Cottrell, a 25-year-old aristocrat known as “Posh George”, served as Ukip’s head of fundraising until his arrest by federal agents on charges of extortion, money laundering and fraud in 2016.

Since his release from a federal prison in Arizona after agreeing a plea deal, he has avoided appearing with Farage. However, a senior source in the Brexit Party said he had reprised his role as one of his top fundraisers.

This is very very odd. It appears that Farage met both Boris Johnson and George Cottrell in London in November.
Since it has many of the same donors and Bannon as adviser, I'm pretty sure the Boris and Brexit Party campaign are in cahoots.
But a convicted money launderer?

Brexit party's funding must be investigated, says Gordon Brown
Former PM is concerned ‘dirty money’ from foreign donors could reach Nigel Farage’s party

The Electoral Commission is under mounting pressure to launch an investigation into the funding of Nigel Farage’s Brexit party because of concerns that its donation structure could allow foreign interference in British democracy.

Before Thursday’s crucial European elections, Gordon Brown has written to the Electoral Commission calling on it to urgently examine whether the party has sufficient safeguards on its website to prevent the contribution of “dirty money”.

The former Labour prime minister will use a speech in Glasgow on Monday to say an investigation into the Brexit party’s finances is urgent and essential.
“Nigel Farage says this election is about democracy. Democracy is fatally undermined if unexplained, unreported and thus undeclared and perhaps under the counter and underhand campaign finance – from whom and from where we do not know – is being used to influence the very elections that are at the heart of our democratic system,” he will say, according to pre-released extracts.
“Now Mr Farage heads a new Brexit party, which is making questionable claims about the true source of its funding at a time when the Electoral Commission has warned of the dangers of multiple, small, anonymous donations being a cover for dirty money.”

Trump Fed Nominee Backs Policies That Would Crash The Economy
Donald Trump is really scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to his remaining Federal Reserve nominees—and he doesn't seem to understand what their individual views on monetary policy actually mean.

Take his latest pick, Judy Shelton, chosen after the attempted appointment of Stephen Moore collapsed following footage of him making incredibly misogynistic and racist comments.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006-2007_...eerages_scandal

"The 2006-2007 Life Peerages scandal (also known as Cash for Honours, Cash for Peerages, Loans for Lordships, Loans for Honours or Loans for Peerages) was a political scandal in the United Kingdom in 2006 and 2007 concerning the connection between political donations and the award of life peerages. A loophole in electoral law in the United Kingdom means that although anyone donating even small sums of money to a political party has to declare this as a matter of public record, those loaning money at commercial rates of interest did not have to make a public declaration."
