Senate returns to confirm more right-wing judges but ignores virus aid
Even as coronavirus cases surge and the economy slumps, Mitch McConnell is still not prioritizing aid.
The GOP-led Senate returned on Monday from the Thanksgiving holiday. But rather than prioritize aid to help the millions of jobless Americans and the cities and states struggling from the economic downturn, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is instead lining up the confirmation of more right-wing judges.
On Monday, the Senate will resume consideration of Taylor B. McNeel to be United States District Judge for the Southern District of Mississippi, according to the calendar of Senate floor proceedings.
McNeel is a member of the Federalist Society, a right-wing group of lawyers and legal minds from which Donald Trump has picked numerous members to serve on federal courts. The Federalist Society also played a huge role in crafting Trump's list of potential Supreme Court nominees in 2016.

Religious hypocrite and moral coward Marco Rubio tweets scripture, gets avalanche of Bible lessons
The moral hypocrisy connected to Americans who call themselves God-fearing and Christian but who also vote for and support Trump and other Republican leaders is well-documented. It’s hard to argue with someone who believes that a forced-birther stance, devoid of any moral consistency, somehow immunizes one from a harsh Judeo-Christian judgment. A person like that—say, a Sen. Marco Rubio type—will say one truthful-sounding thing while acting in a truly morally bankrupt way. In fact, Rubio’s entire post-Trump career seems to consist of making statements that expose the stark hypocrisy at the heart of the Republican Christian myth.
On Sunday, Rubio went online to do the thing he likes to do: Pick out something in his Bible and then cut and paste it into a tweet to pretend he is both smart and Christian.
Today’s statement comes from the Hebrew Bible, or the Old Testament, from the prophet Isaiah*: “Why do you make us wander, LORD, from your ways, and harden our hearts so that we do not fear you?”
Deep stuff, right?
Of course, almost anyone with the ability to read that quote is also endowed with all kinds of braincells that far exceed Rubio’s brain capacity. I’m not positive, but I believe Rubio’s mental and moral decline can be scientifically connected to the disappearance of a spine.
Needless to say, the responses to this ridiculous missive from a man attempting to promote the moral superiority of Donald Trump to anyone opened the floodgates for an epic lesson in failed tweets. ...

Deep Stuff, indeed. Und viel zu schade für die dämlichen Antworten, die Rubio erhält. Man denkt an den Pharao, dessen Herz Gott so verhärtete, dass dieser das Volk Israel nicht aus der Knechtschaft ziehen ließ. Es geht eigentlich um die Frage der Willensfreiheit des Menschen, und zumindest auf den ersten Blick scheint die Passage auf die doppelte Prädestination Calvins hinzudeuten, die im protestantischen Lager "umstritten" war, um diesen Modebegriff zu benutzen.
Wie gesagt, jede Menge schlechter Theologie. Die Wahrheit, die uns befreit, ist die Wahrheit des Gekreuzigten und Auferstandenen. Sie zu einer politischen Wahrheit zu machen, für oder gegen eine Partei, ist schlimmer als schlechte Theologie; es ist Blasphemie.
Dann die Imitatio Christi (Thomas a Kempen): Es handelt sich um einen lebenslangen Weg mit Erfolgen und Misserfolgen, um ein Fallen und Aufstehen, nicht um eine politische Ideologie, erst recht keine gottlose Ideologie, die an die Stelle des in der und durch die Geschichte handelnden Gottes, die zum Gott gewordene Geschichte setzt.
"Because you are republicans" ist so dämlich, dass sich darauf nicht einmal eine Erwiderung lohnt.
Aber wahrscheinlich beruht das Ganze auf einem Missverstehen der Aussage des Herrn: Beati pauperes spiritu, selig die Armen im Geiste. :-)

Vielleicht hat das Kindlein ja den Inhalt des Postings der Gemeinde nicht verstanden. Einfach nicht verstanden.
