Days ago, Trump bragged about his memory. But now he can’t remember incriminating Russia meeting.
"It was a very unimportant meeting, it took place a long time -- don't remember much about it."

Jew-bashing Georgia candidate says ’at least Nazis contributed to US society’
Georgia city council candidate this week was forced to defend a series of anti-Semitic tweets, including a declaration that “at least the Nazis assimilated and contributed to US society,” the Atlantic-Journal Constitution reports.
The tweets from Suwanee City Council candidate Joe Briggs resurfaced in recent days, including posts comparing Jews to Nazis and referring to Zionists as “cockroaches.”
“CNN is run by white supremacists,” Briggs tweeted in August after CNN fired former commentator Jeffrey Lord for tweeting “Sieg Heil!” at the president of Media Matters. “Zionists in Israel far worse than anything described in Mein Kampf. Get over it,” Briggs added.

In September, Briggs begged administration aides to “get the Jews out of the White House and out of POTUS’ ear.”
“At least the Nazis assimilated and contributed to US society,” Briggs wrote that same week, later adding “The problem is that Jews don’t care about racism — because they are racist. They only care about racism directed towards them. Square that.”

Report Confirms Surge in Anti-Semitism in 2017
A new report shows a continued rise in anti-Semitic incidents across the U.S. in the first nine months of 2017, partly attributable to the Charlottesville rally in which white nationalists marched through the city shouting “Jews will not replace us.”

The report from the Anti-Defamation League shows a 67 percent increase in physical assaults, vandalism, and attacks on Jewish institutions over the same period last year. ...

... The report shows that anti-Semitic incidents spiked during and immediately following the Charlottesville protests that left one woman dead. President Trump ignited a political firestorm in the wake of the violence when he attributed “blame on both sides” — white supremacists, as well as those who marched against them.

AG Jeff Sessions Basically Admits To Perjury, Suddenly Remembers Meeting About Russia
According to CNN, Attorney General Jeff Sessions suddenly remembers nixing the idea of a campaign meeting between Russian president Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump last year.

According to court documents, the meeting was proposed by Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, who has since pleaded guilty to lying to the FBI.
Sessions, a top surrogate for Trump during the campaign, did not disclose the fact that he shot down the discussions despite delivering sworn testimony about Russia during multiple hearings on Capitol Hill.
Papadopoulos proposed Trump meet with Putin during a March 2016 conference of Trump advisers. Photos of the meeting show him sitting near Sessions.

Carl Bernstein: Russia probe feels 'worse than Watergate'
f President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to win the presidency, its “worse than Watergate,” journalist Carl Bernstein says.

Bernstein’s views on the matter were of great interest to a standing room-only crowd in Hyde Park on Wednesday night.
Along with his Washington Post colleague Bob Woodward, Bernstein, of course, broke the Pulitzer Prize-winning stories about the Watergate break-in that ultimately led to President Richard Nixon’s resignation. Now 73, Bernstein waxed lyrical about the parallels between the early 1970s and today’s political scene, describing “this orange haired president” as a “spectacularly ignorant … grifter” who has “contempt for the law.”

Page: I Was On Papadopoulos Email About Linking Russia Up With Campaign
Carter Page acknowledged Friday that he was copied on an email chain in which fellow Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos suggested hooking the Trump team up with Russian government officials.
“I was one of many people on that email chain,” the perpetually chatty Page told CNN’s Jake Tapper in an on-air interview.

Trump Campaign Adviser Met With Russian Officials in 2016
Carter Page, a foreign policy adviser to the Trump presidential campaign, met Russian government officials during a July 2016 trip he took to Moscow, according to testimony he gave on Thursday to the House Intelligence Committee.

Shortly after the trip, Mr. Page sent an email to at least one Trump campaign aide describing insights he had after conversations with government officials, legislators and business executives during his time in Moscow, according to one person familiar with the contents of the message. The email was read aloud during the closed-door testimony.

The new details of the trip present a different picture than the account Mr. Page has given during numerous appearances in the news media in recent months and are yet another example of a Trump adviser meeting with Russians officials during the 2016 campaign. In multiple interviews with The New York Times, he had either denied meeting with any Russian government officials during the July 2016 visit or sidestepped the question, saying he met with “mostly scholars.” ....

Mr. Page acknowledged his meeting with Russian government officials during sharp questioning by Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the committee, according to a congressional official familiar with the exchange.

Longtime Trump bodyguard to face questions about 2013 Moscow trip
One of President Trump’s most trusted confidants, a security chief who served as his sounding board for nearly two decades, will face questions from congressional investigators next week about Trump’s 2013 trip to Moscow, according to people familiar with their plans.

The excursion is at the center of some of the most salacious allegations in a now-famous dossier, which contains unverified charges that Trump has vehemently disputed.

The House Intelligence Committee has called former longtime bodyguard Keith Schiller to appear for an interview Tuesday as part of its probe of Russian meddling in the 2016 election. Investigators plan to press Schiller about allegations in the 35-page dossier that Russian officials obtained compromising information about Trump’s personal behavior when he visited Moscow for the 2013 Miss Universe pageant, according to people familiar with the investigation.

Pussy Riot Star Breaks Down The Similarities Between Trump And Putin
In an interview on MSNBC, Nadya Tolokonnikova also explained how she thinks the president plays into the Russian leader’s hands.

....The two presidents also share similar views about their critics and the media, she added.
“I’ve seen how badly it can turn. I’ve seen it, in front of my eyes, for the last 17 years, and I hear it from Donald Trump the same words about media that Putin was using for 17 years,” said Tolokonnikova. “That it’s fake news, that are paid by foreign governments and whoever.”

Tolokonnikova also claimed that Trump’s supposed lack of any true political beliefs played perfectly into Putin’s hands.
“He’s (Trump) really concerned with himself, with his fame and his wealth. And that’s perfectly understandable for Putin as a (former) KGB agent,” she said. “He knows how to deal with people who are easy to understand or easy to bribe.”

Paul Ryan says GOP is only pretending tax cuts will increase debt
The House Speaker claims it is just a trick to get past Senate rules

Speaker of the House Paul Ryan (R-WI) claimed on Sunday that the House Republican’s tax bill won’t really mean a huge increase in the national debt — even though their own estimates say it will increase the debt by about $1.5 trillion over ten years. His reasoning: they are only pretending in order to trick the senate parliamentarian.

On Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked Ryan why he is pushing a bill that contradicts his prior promise that the bill would be “deficit neutral” and abandoning his longstanding claim of being a deficit hawk.

The lines between the country’s politics and Trump’s family business have become increasingly blurred over the last year, as his children have hawked campaign merchandise and held meetings with Republican National Committee officials, while Trump-branded hotels have looked to expand across the country and memberships to Trump’s Florida resort, Mar-A-Lago, have doubled.

Russia funded Facebook and Twitter investments through Kushner associate
Two Russian state institutions with close ties to Vladimir Putin funded substantial investments in Twitter and Facebook through a business associate of Jared Kushner, leaked documents reveal.

The investments were made through a Russian technology magnate, Yuri Milner, who also holds a stake in a company co-owned by Kushner, Donald Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser.
The discovery is likely to stir concerns over Russian influence in US politics and the role played by social media in last year’s presidential election.

Paradise Papers: Leaks Show Wilbur Ross Hid Ties to Putin Cronies
Wilbur Ross, the commerce secretary in the Trump administration, shares business interests with Vladimir Putin’s immediate family, and he failed to clearly disclose those interests when he was being confirmed for his cabinet position.

...In his submission letter to the government, Ross pledged to cut ties with more than 80 financial entities in which he has interests. Ross’s apparent ethical probity won praise, even before he signed the divestment agreement, from both sides of the political aisle.

'Our Committee Was Misled'
The documents seen by NBC News, however, along with a careful examination of filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, tell a different story than the one Ross told at his confirmation. Ross divested most of his holdings, but did not reveal to the government the full details of the holdings he kept.

“I am astonished and appalled because I feel misled,” said Blumenthal. “Our committee was misled, the American people were misled by the concealment of those companies.” Blumenthal said he will call for the inspector general of the Commerce Department to launch an investigation.

The Kremlin's inner circle
One of the owners of SIBUR is Gennady Timchenko, a Russian billionaire on the Treasury Department’s sanctions list. He has been barred from entering the U.S. since 2014 because authorities consider him a Specially Designated National, or SDN, who is considered by Treasury to be a member “of the Russian leadership’s inner circle.”

The Treasury Department statement said that Timchenko’s activities in the energy sector “have been directly linked to Putin” and that Putin had investments with a company previously owned by Timchenko, as well as access to the company’s funds.
Daniel Fried, who was the State Department sanctions coordinator under President Barack Obama, said the connection to Timchenko’s interests should have raised alarm bells. ...

Kremlin Cash Behind Billionaire’s Twitter and Facebook Investments
Leaked files show that a state-controlled bank in Moscow helped to fuel Yuri Milner’s ascent
in Silicon Valley, where the Russia investigation has put tech companies under scrutiny.

Now, leaked documents examined by The New York Times offer a partial answer: Behind Mr. Milner’s investments in Facebook and Twitter were hundreds of millions of dollars from the Kremlin.

Obscured by a maze of offshore shell companies, the Twitter investment was backed by VTB, a Russian state-controlled bank often used for politically strategic deals.

And a big investor in Mr. Milner’s Facebook deal received financing from Gazprom Investholding, another government-controlled financial institution, according to the documents. They include a cache of records from the Bermuda law firm Appleby that were obtained by the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung and reviewed by The Times in collaboration with the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.
