Calling Out Omar and Democrats' 'anti-Semitism,' Trump Pulls Jewish Dual Loyalty Trope
Calling out Democrats for the ‘terrible scourge of anti-Semitism,’ Trump repeatedly fails to distinguish between the American Jews to whom he was speaking and Jewish Israelis

President Donald Trump and Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar may stand on opposite sides of the political fence when it comes to U.S. support for Israel. But in his address to the Republican Jewish Coalition on Saturday, Trump evoked precisely the same anti-Semitic tropes for which the Democratic congresswoman has been harshly criticized.

Because he is to stupid to even exploit rightwinger's lies properly. Even these lies are to sophisticated for him. 😂

Republican senator inadvertently admits Congress can see Trump’s tax returns
Just a day after Acting White House Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said Democrats will never, ever see Donald Trump’s tax returns, not in a million years, Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley basically admitted that, yes, Congress is 100 percent entitled to them. And he said it on Fox & Friends, which means Trump was watching the whole thing through rheumy, Adderall-bloodshot eyes.

First, Grassley mentioned that he could get Trump’s returns himself because he chairs the Senate Finance Committee. Of course, that right also extends to the chair of the House Ways and Means Committee, who is currently Democrat Richard Neal.

And then Grassley tripped headlong into a steaming, putrescent pile of whoops:

Trump Personally Spoke to Border Patrol Agents and Told Them to Break the Law and Lie to Judges: Report
"The President refuses to understand that the Department of Homeland Security is constrained by the laws."

But as CNN reports, not only did Trump publicly proclaim the U.S. is full, he held private conversations "behind the scenes" with Border Patrol agents during which "the President told border agents to not let migrants in."
That is illegal, especially if they are seeking asylum, as Secretary Nielsen had told Trump two weeks prior. The White House counsel had supported Secretary Nielsen's reading of the law.
The President appeared to not care, as he coached the Border Patrol agents on committing an apparent illegal act.

The Stephen Miller Presidency
The more politically frustrated Trump becomes, the more he embraces his most extreme adviser. Brace yourself, America.

Stephen Miller is winning. In recent days, President Donald Trump’s senior adviser for policy has overseen a purge of officials who were seen as insufficiently extreme on immigration. Homeland Security chief Kirstjen Nielsen was pushed out on Sunday. Two days earlier, Miller persuaded Trump to cut ties with Ronald Vitello, the president’s nominee to lead Immigration and Customs Enforcement. “Ron’s a good man but we’re going in a tougher direction,” Trump told reporters.

And Miller’s not done. On Monday, CNN reported that Miller also wants the president to fire two more high-ranking immigration officials. “He’s actively trying to put in place people who have very different points of view than the current leadership within the agencies,” a former DHS official told Politico, referring to Miller. “His idea is basically [to] clean house.” Trump reportedly has informed aides that the 33-year-old Miller will oversee all immigration initiatives.

In a White House defined by dysfunction and turnover—the departments of justice, defense, and veterans affairs are all led by acting directors—Miller is the thriving cockroach. It’s no secret why: He has shown an unwavering commitment to Trump’s toxic immigration agenda, perhaps even more so than the president himself. Miller’s expanding influence and seemingly permanent tenure suggest that Trump’s immigration policies will become even more radical than those he implemented during his first two years in office.

Russia in Venezuela: Why Putin has sent troops to back up Nicolas Maduro
According to U.S. officials, the two planeloads of Russian troops were sent to Caracas to support Maduro. The Kremlin claims, however, that they were sent to do maintenance work on military equipment Russia supplied to Venezuela several years ago.

The conversation heated up as President Donald Trump told Russia "to get out," and Russia's Foreign Ministry shot back that the U.S. should get out of Syria first. Russia and the U.S. similarly backed different sides in Syria's civil war, and Russian President Vladimir Putin coming to the rescue has arguably kept dictator Bashar Assad comfortably in power.

On Thursday, Venezuela's deputy foreign minister would not rule out the possibility that more Russian military personnel could arrive in his country, under what he said were existing agreements between the two nations.

11 Million Taxpayers Losing $323 Billion In Deductions In Trump Tax Hit
More bad news for middle America after corporate taxes were slashed.

There’s more bad news for taxpayers. A government report has revealed that 11 million taxpayers are losing out on $323 billion worth of deductions due to a punishing change in President Donald Trump’s tax law.

The hard news comes after early filers were stunned by shrinking — to vanishing — tax refunds.

Lobbyist who funneled foreign money to Trump's inaugural fund asks for no jail time
Patten pleaded guilty to foreign lobbying violations last year.

Sam Patten, a veteran Republican lobbyist accused of illegally funneling foreign money into the Trump inaugural fund, is seeking no jail time after pleading guilty last year to foreign lobbying violations in a case referred to federal prosecutors by special counsel Robert Mueller, according to a new court filing.

Patten, 47, pleaded guilty in August for acting as an "agent of a foreign principal … without registering under the Department of Justice's Foreign Agent Registration Act,” related to his work on behalf of a Ukrainian political party.

As part of his plea deal, Patten acknowledged accepting $50,000 to secure tickets to President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2017 for a Ukrainian client through a "straw" purchaser, circumventing rules about the inauguration committee accepting money from foreigners.
Patten also admitted to lying to the Senate Intelligence Committee during its investigation into Russian election interference. Patten has since been cooperating with investigators.

U.S. House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler, Democrat from New York, slammed U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent speech to the Jewish Republican Coalition, saying that Trump “wades right into the anti-Semitic dual-loyalty lie.” During the speech Trump repeatedly referred to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “your prime minister,” while addressing the crowd of conservative American Jews.

Trump will leave a legacy of selfishness and dishonesty
Joseph Stiglitz

The president’s attack on every pillar of society jeopardises the US’s continued prosperity and ability to function as a democracy ...

...The attack by Trump and his administration on every one of the pillars of American society, and his especially aggressive vilification of the country’s truth-seeking institutions, jeopardises its continued prosperity and very ability to function as a democracy. Nor do there appear to be checks on corporate giants’ efforts to capture the institutions – the courts, legislatures, regulatory agencies, and major media outlets – that are supposed to prevent them from exploiting workers and consumers. A dystopia previously imagined only by science fiction writers is emerging before our eyes. It should give us chills to think of who “wins” in this world, and who or what we might become, just in the struggle to survive.
