Christian pastor weeps as he prays for God to destroy Trump’s ‘enemies’
Tuesday’s episode of The Jim Bakker Show was a doozy thanks to special guest Pastor Robert Henderson, who claims to have lobbied “the courts of heaven” to help Donald Trump get elected president. It was a nutty segment that was topped off with Henderson shedding tears as he called on God to protect Trump.

Throughout the segment, Henderson painted Trump as a persecuted president. But according to Henderson, the joke’s on Trump’s opponents, who are actually opposing God.

“They can try all day long to remove him, they will not remove him. God said, ‘I set him as the president,’ and they can fight, and they can curse, and they can do all that they want; the problem is that they’re fighting against God,” Henderson said...

Italy is evicting Steve Bannon from the medieval monastery he planned to turn into a far-right training academy
The Italian government has delivered a potentially fatal blow to Steve Bannon’s plans to transform a medieval monastery near Rome into a training academy for the far-right.

Italy’s cultural heritage ministry announced on Friday (May 31) that it would revoke a lease granted to Bannon after reports of fraud in the competitive tender process. The former Breitbart chief and aide to US president Donald Trump was reportedly paying €100,000 ($110,000) per year to rent the 13th Century Carthusian monastery, but now will have to search for another spot.

The New Trove of Secret Gerrymandering Files Will Be a Nightmare for the GOP

And on Thursday, they dropped the first bombshell from Hofeller’s hard drives: A key portion of a 2015 memo written by Hofeller appeared in a draft Justice Department letter used to justify the Trump administration’s efforts to add a citizenship question to the census. Hofeller’s memo, which explains why the citizenship question would boost the voting power of “Republicans and non-Hispanic Whites,” indicates that administration officials lied about the reason for adding the question. ...

Following the 2010 red wave, Hofeller worked with the RNC to develop Project REDMAP, a sweeping initiative to help GOP-controlled state houses build durable gerrymanders. He taught lawmakers how to use racial and partisan data to dilute Democratic votes. His maps preserved Republicans’ House majority over the next three elections and maintained GOP domination over most state legislatures.

'The Kraken unleashed': how Trump's shock troops attack US democracy
An army of supporters amplify the president’s wildest claims, encouraging his conspiracy-minded tendencies

While the president has led the way in stirring outrage, he is aided and abetted by an entire ecosystem of activists, officials, politicians, pundits and social media stars. Far from being a lone voice screaming into the void, Trump can be confident that every baseless conspiracy theory he generates will be echoed, endorsed and enlarged – whatever the cost to the rule of law.

“There’s no idea too lunatic or extreme that Trump cannot find someone to amplify them for him,” said Charlie Sykes, a conservative broadcaster and journalist. “This is the new political normal. It’s no wonder that Trump is not deterred from saying crazy things, because he knows there will always be someone willing to go out there and repeat them.”

President Trump’s job approval rating is the highest it’s been in two years, boosted by voter optimism about the economy, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey.

The survey found that 48 percent approve of the job Trump is doing, compared to 52 percent who said they disapprove. That’s up from 45 percent approval in March. The last time the president’s job approval rating reached 48 percent in the Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey was in June of 2017.

Justice Department Refuses to Release Flynn-Russian Ambassador Transcripts
Federal prosecutors have reportedly declined to release the transcripts of recorded conversations between former national security adviser Michael Flynn and Russia’s former ambassador to the U.S., despite a court order to do so. According to The Washington Post, the Justice Department wrote in a court filing that it did not rely on the recordings of conversations from December 2016 to establish Flynn's guilt or determine a sentencing recommendation. The DOJ also failed to release unredacted portions of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report into 2016 Russian election interference relating to Flynn, which were also ordered for release by U.S. District Judge Emmet G. Sullivan.

Mueller declares his Russia report did not exonerate Trump
Special counsel Robert Mueller said Wednesday that charging President Donald Trump with a crime was “not an option” because of federal rules, but he used his first public remarks on the Russia investigation to emphasize that he did not exonerate the president.

“If we had had confidence that the president clearly did not commit a crime, we would have said so,” Mueller declared.

The special counsel’s remarks stood as a pointed rebuttal to Trump’s repeated claims that he was cleared and that the two-year inquiry was merely a “witch hunt.” They also marked a counter to criticism, including by Attorney General William Barr, that Mueller should have reached a determination on whether the president illegally tried to obstruct the probe by taking actions such as firing his FBI director.

The Trump administration will launch a human rights panel that stresses antigay ‘natural law’
"Natural law" is one of the religious right's favorite phrases for why they oppose LGBTQ rights.

The State Department announced that it will be launching a new advisory panel that will stress human rights in the context of “natural law.”

In contemporary politics, “natural law” is associated with conservative Christianity, especially opposition to reproductive and LGBTQ rights. Anti-LGBTQ activists use the phrase constantly to justify opposing basic human rights.

The State Department published a notice to create the Commission on Unalienable Rights. The notice says that the Commission “will provide the Secretary of State advice and recommendations concerning international human rights matters.”

The new front in Trump’s trade war could cost consumers at least $93 billion
Based on 2018 trade numbers, in which the U.S. imported $371.9 billion from Mexico, that would equate to a tax on U.S. consumers that would start at $18.6 billion and escalate to just shy of $93 billion.

Wall Street has suffered during the global tariff dispute, with stocks dropping more than 1% in Friday trading as investors worry over the longer-term impact of the trade impasse.
“These tariffs that would only ramp up would be a total mess,” said Peter Boockvar, chief investment officer at Bleakley Advisory Group. “In the meantime, business has another reason to sit on their hands before making any major decisions.”

In a messaging war, does Mueller's quiet honesty stand a chance against Trump's lies?
For two years, former special counsel Robert Mueller oversaw a completely professional investigation into Russian interference during the 2016 election. His team of prosecutors ran a leak-free shop, Mueller refused to speak publicly during his tenure in order to ensure impartiality, and on Wednesday, as he announced his resignation, he thoughtfully reiterated the report's key findings. The sad truth is the White House probably loves Mueller for it.

In an era of Trump smash-mouth media warfare, Mueller's professionalism and deep-seated sense of duty could end up helping Donald Trump as he oversees a wildly dishonest campaign to pronounce his "exoneration." ....

... The grim media reality is that in a messaging duel between a quiet, honorable professional like Mueller who strives to be fair, versus a loud propaganda machine that feeds off lies like the Trump White House, the loud liars often enjoy the upper hand.

Trump’s Tariffs Will Threaten GOP’s Senate Majority
The president’s protectionism is putting several vulnerable Republican senators on the defensive.

President Trump’s abrupt threat to impose tariffs on Mexico doesn’t just threaten to stagnate the country’s economy and raise the price of goods for consumers back home. It poses a serious threat to Senate Republicans, who are fighting to hold their majority in battleground states that will suffer from a protracted trade war with our southern neighbor.

It’s no coincidence that most of the Republican senators who spoke out against Trump’s move late last week are up for reelection next year. Even many reliable Trump allies came out with rare expressions of opposition, knowing their own political survival is on the line.

A Great Country Would Have Already Impeached Trump, But Maybe We Should Just Admit We No Longer Qualify
Ironically, as the fervor to impeach President Donald Trump has grown in many corners of the Democratic congressional caucus, and one very lonely Republican congressman, my enthusiasm for Trump to be impeached has started to wane. Not because he doesn’t merit such an indictment, or that history doesn’t demand it, but because it is becoming clear that there are no heroes around, other than maybe Rep. Justin Amash, who are willing to keep the impeachment of Trump from being a disaster.

Heute richtet sich trumski's Gegreine gegen Peggy Noonan, eine konservative Artikelschreiberin:

Donald J. Trump@realDonaldTrump
Peggy Noonan, the simplistic writer for Trump Haters all, is stuck in the past glory of Reagan and has no idea what is happening with the Radical Left Democrats, or how vicious and desperate they are. Mueller had to correct his ridiculous statement, Peggy never understood it!
11:13 AM - 2 Jun 2019

Dazu dann Dr. Gu:

Eugene Gu, MD@eugenegu
Peggy Noonan is a Republican who was the speech writer for Ronald Reagan. She wrote an op-ed in the right-leaning Wall Street Journal where even she admits that the Mueller report condemns Trump and that he most likely committed a crime.

Mueller never had to issue any corrections for himself. He only twice spoke out publicly. Once during the investigation he had to correct sensational reporting from Buzzfeed News and then after the investigation he had to correct lying interpretations from Attorney General Barr.

In her op-ed, Peggy Noonan argues that Trump should be censured by Congress rather than impeached because it would be a grave mistake to overturn the results of an election. But what is faulty about her line of reasoning is the assumption that Trump was fairly elected. He wasn’t.

Trump lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. And as the Mueller report shows, Russian intelligence meddled in our elections to help Trump win the Electoral College. So he was never fairly elected by the American people. He’s an illegitimate president who stole the presidency.

It shouldn’t be morally difficult to overturn the result of an illegitimate election where a hostile foreign enemy illegally helped Trump by hacking Clinton’s private information and disseminating it through WikiLeaks and social media. The will of the American people was ignored.

Trump never earned a single thing in his entire life. He inherited money from his father which he used to bankrupt a bunch of casinos. He took credit for Obama’s economic recovery but is now destroying it through a bunch of trade wars. And Putin stole an entire election for him.

It’s time for Speaker Nancy Pelosi to at the very least allow the House Judiciary Committee to open an impeachment inquiry. Having the full House vote on this would lend it much needed legitimacy. It isn’t about politics. It’s about upholding the Constitution and the rule of law.

Because at the end of the day, the facts and evidence within the Mueller report are clear. Russia attacked our elections and Trump committed obstruction of justice. We have no choice but to impeach and imprison the President of the United States.

JANET YELLEN: TRUMP IS AN EVEN BIGGER IDIOT THAN HE LOOKS
The former Federal Reserve chair cannot adequately express how dumb our president is.

When you’re actively working for the president of the United States, you can’t just come out and publicly say, “This guy is a complete and total moron,” however accurate or obvious the statement may be. Oh sure, you can say it in private, or in an anonymous op-ed, but attaching your name to such comments is generally considered inadvisable if you want to stay employed. That’s why, during the period in which Janet Yellen served as the chair of the Federal Reserve under Donald Trump, we never heard her telling reporters things like, “He makes the cast of Bachelor in Paradise look smart,” or “I honestly and truly believe my Schnauzer could do a better job.” But as of last February, Yellen no longer works for Trump—because he literally thought she was too short for the gig—and thus is feeling a bit freer in her choice of words.

In an interview with Marketplace’s Kai Ryssdal, Yellen was asked, point blank: “Do you think the president has a grasp of macroeconomic policy?” And instead of dancing around the issue or offering some kind of “I don’t know what’s in his heart” answer, she responded, “No, I do not.” That most of us had a hunch this was the case does not change the fact that it’s shocking Yellen would just come out and say it! And, apparently, macroeconomics is just one of several things she thinks President Buy and Sell knows nothing about, the others being international trade, business, and the entire purpose of the Federal Reserve. ...
